ill try to keep this brief if anyone can help me id appreciate. if not then i hope to use this place to find another car at some point.
*i live in ny state. i had a verbal agreemennt with my landlord to store a 79 amc spirit in the lot while i was renting from him. it was stored for about a year and a half.
*i was going to sell the car to a friend for 1500
*my landlord had sold the car two weeks previously without my knowledge or permission. he sold it for 225 as is and without the title. he claims he thought it was an abandoned car and made attempts to find out whos car it was. noone contacted me about any of this.
*i spoke with the police on the matter but they said that since the car wasnt listed as mine on the lease there was nothing i could do. now the landlord will settle the matter by paying me the 225 he sold it for and thats all hes willing to do.
*the police tracked down the person it was sold to but that buyer claimed to have resold the car himself for 300.
*the car was stored inside its entire life execpt for the past winter it was outside. the body was solid, no rust. there was some minimal to moderate rust on the frame. the interior was in good to fair condition with normal wear and tear. in general it was a decent car but not show quality. id say high fair to good shape.
do i have any options and what would be a fair price to settle for? can anyone help me?
